Mobilimousin’s aims

Prior to Mobilimousin there was no Central Multimodal Information System in the Limousin Regional Council to meet the following aims:
- To facilitate mobility for users in the Limousin by providing them with all the information they need to complete their journey.
- To improve the quality of information.
- To get away from the idea that “you can’t get around the Limousin without a car”.
- To make the different means of transport more complementary.
- To increase the number of users of the different transport networks.
- To cut down the use of cars in town.
- To make it easier to adapt transport services (timetables, connections, combined fares, etc.) to respond better to the needs expressed by passengers.
We therefore needed to provide the region with such a tool, and this is why the Limousin Regional Council and its partners decided to set up MOBILIMOUSIN.
To achieve these aims, Mobilimousin centralises all the information from each of its partners in a single database. The technical difficulty lay in making the data from a motley range of incompatible systems work together. The information was to be restored via our website or call centre (Freefone 0 800 87 23 19 – free call from a landline). The project’s success would also depend on the commitment of each of the partners, who have the day-to-day responsibility for adding to the Mobilimousin data.
